Hello, Dear Readers.....a final thought on the events - as I know them - leading up to my becoming a born-again Christian; THEN it's "on to other things of God!"
After returning from my service in Vietnam, and enrolling into Indiana University (at South Bend); I was working part-time, in a jewelry store, downtown, next to the State Theatre. Young, virile and proud (actually "cocky!"), I was agnostic, at best, going about life enjoying each and every whim......completely unaware of anything existing beyond what I was able to see, hear or touch!
My young cousin, whom I loved very much - almost like a sister - asked me if I'd go with her to see the movie "The Exorcist", playing right next to the jewelry store where I worked. Always one for the enjoyment of a movie, I said "sure, let's go!"
Well, by the time that the movie was over, after seeing a "head going around", and other tasteless things perpetrated against the "things of God"......I won't gross you out with the various unspeakable details; I staggered out of that theatre speechless and utterly convinced that yes, there WAS a thing called "Evil" in this world. No person, by themselves, could have thought-up, or even acted out, the many despicable scenes portrayed!!
I wasn't quite ready to "turn my life over" to a God that I wasn't able to "see, hear or touch"; but I ABSOLUTELY knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that another force, called "Evil," existed......and I was shaken to my roots!!
God love you, Dear Readers!

Hey Dave,
One day while driving down the Kennedy Exp (Chicago), my sister saw an ad for the sequel to the Exorcist, which started up a discussion about God and evil. I'd mentioned that the 2nd one is supposed to be fiction, but the 1st one was a true story. That's when she said, "What do you mean it's a true story? That stuff doesn't exist."
Interesting how the evil one even blinds some people into disbelieving that he even exists...and that belief is just as dangerous.
Thanks for your post. When you get a chance, stop by my new ministry-based site sometime: http://dearpastorandy.blogspot.com/
